"We booked our family winter vacation for two (2) weeks in South Kihei from January 19 - February 2, 2011 at the best place to stay while visiting Maui. My wife and I brought our daughters (ages 9 and 6) and both their grand parents were their at the same time. What a fantastic holiday! The Maui Kamaole is located right across the street from Kamaole Beach III on South Kihei Road. We spent almost every morning at the beach their for 2-3 hours. It was nice to be able to walk across the street to the beach. Our condo unit slept 6 (Unit D202) and the many BBQ areas on the grounds were awesome for cooking steak, etc. It had all the amenities of home and was great for the 6 of us to stay. Great balcony and garden view for a family to get enough space away from each other with two bedrooms and a pull out sofa bed couch. The grounds are very well maintained and the kids enjoyed their early evening swim at one of the two nice pool and hot tubs. Great place to relax and enjoy the hawaiian weather and scenery. We have stayed at the Maui Kamaole a number of times over the past 15 years and we will be back. We have never been disappointed. Can't wait to go back again!"

My family and I travelled to Maui for 2 weeks from Jan 14-28, 2013 and had a wonderful time at the Maui Kamaeole. The 1 bedroom + loft fit 4 of us very comfortably and we were surprised by the size and space. The condo is beautifully kept with lovely granite counter tops, new kitchen cabinets, flat screen televisions and cable in every room (nice to unwind at night), beautiful hawaiian type decor, and a gorgeous master bathroom (and all the beds including the pull out couch were very comfortable). We were delighted to find so many things available for our use including towels, cooking supplies, some spices, etc. It definitely made our time in Maui so much easier not having to shop for the basic essential items. Another awesome feature of this unit is the combination lock on the doors. It is SO much easier than having to carry a key! Great idea!
The condo complex grounds are beautiful and the pools and jacuzzi were a great relaxing option when we just didn't feel like going to the beach or when the weather was a bit windy (being on the beach in the wind can mean getting pelted by sand! Pools are great during these days!). My fiance and I went to the sand bottom jacuzzi one evening and it was delightful! I'm sad I didn't get to spend more time in the jacuzzi but by 8pm I was exhausted and ready for bed! Sun, sand and ocean will drain you! The complex has nice walking paths and you never felt alone as there was always someone wandering around enjoying the beautiful nights. Another wonderful amenity are the barbeque's in each section, what a great way to spend an evening! A delicious home- made BBQ to be enjoyed outside on the lanai.
The staff at Maui Kameole were very knowledgeable and helpful. When we checked in we had a small cleaning issue which was rectified right away and the house keeper responsible for our unit came personally and fixed everything right away. She even let us meet her little dog and we saw her a few times after that, what a wonderful individual!
The complex itself is located across from the Kihei boat dock (beautiful area) and about a 10-15 minute walk from the Kamaeole Beach Parks (I,II,III) as well as the little shops that around that area. The walk is nice and is a great way to wake up in the morning on your way to breakfast. The drive to the Kameole beaches is only about 4 minutes and there is plenty of parking close to the beach so you don't have to walk very far with your beach stuff. Also convenient is the fact that the complex is located near Wailea and the Shops at Wailea. Wailea is a great place to go in the evening and walk around on the path by the ocean that is behind the big hotels (they have lots of neat things to see too!) as well as the Shops at Wailea is an open air mall and is beautiful at night. They have a great ice cream place too! You can drive from the condo to the Shops at Wailea in about 7 minutes, park in the parking lot and then walk to everything from there.
I would also recommend a few things -
#1 Rent a car! You need a car in Maui, it is very open and widespread (not congested like Honolulu) and renting a car is so much easier than trying to take public transportation. AND if you rent a car, use it! Drive to the Northshore or Jaws to watch the surfers, head to Lahaina to take in some shopping and restaurants and make sure to go to a luau! I recommend the Old Lahaina Luau - one of the better luaus I've ever been to! Absolutely stunning! You can go to Costco and Walmart which are just by the airport and pick up beautiful fruits, veggies, meat etc. as well as souvenirs that would be more costly at a vendor across the street from the beach.
#2 Eat here - Maui Kamaeole is conveniently located near Moose Mcguillicuddys (for a care-free atmosphere it's kind of a sports bar with great food), and Freds (nice breakfast menu with the option to eat outside!) Cafe O lei (amazing food!), Denny's (also have an outdoor area! great breaky!), ABC stores as well as a delicious little snack shop called S&Qs Coffee and Shaved Ice Shack - they have delicious bagels, coffee, sandwiches etc. but my personal favorite is the Papaya Boat which is half a papaya filled with yogurt, honey and granola and also passion fruit if it is in season. Makes a wonderful breakfast or snack.
Well that's about it - I hope my recommendations and testimonial help other prospective travellers to choose Maui Kameole unit D202 as their vacation destination. We had a great time and really look forward to going back in future years.
Thanks for the wonderful vacation!
